The Master Plumbers' and
Mechanical Services Association of Australia (MPMSAA) and the Master Plumbers' Association
of Queensland (MPAQ) this month announced their joint decision to strike an
alliance agreement enabling the formation of a Best Practice Model for the
industry.
Both organisations acknowledge
the challenges of the industry as it evolves, and are keen to ensure they are
best placed to meet the diverse needs of members.
The alliance agreement,
which commences on 1 July 2009, is based on an already successful model adopted
by the MPMSAA with other international plumbing organisations, and provides for
a close affiliation between the MPAQ and the MPMSAA.
In making the joint
announcement Mr Bill Durham, President of the MPMSAA said "The alliance is
deemed by both parties to be the best way forward to meet the needs of a
growing Australian membership base.
"Coupled with the
increasing demands on members as a result of the advancement of major
platforms, such as the new IR regulations and climate change, we are
well-placed to forge ahead in a collaborative manner and reap the best rewards
for our members."
The proposed agreement
will see both entities involved in a range of issues including: national
licensing; award modernisation; training; and the development and delivery of
an even wider range of member services.
The new agreement also allows
for the retention of an MPMSAA Board and the MPAQ Council.
Mr Bob Kimlin, President
of MPAQ said "With both parties working cohesively towards the development of a
robust and sound link, it is inevitable that solid foundations will be laid for
future prosperity of our plumbing industry."
The Alliance Agreement will
allow for the adoption of best practice methods with both parties working
towards the long-term goal of creating a network of like-minded global
organisations unified in the concept of Best Practice and sustainable plumbing.
