Introduction

Course Overview

This course has been designed to provide training in the safe removal of asbestos and asbestos-containing materials and roof safety. On completion, successful participant receives an industry recognised licenced card

Recognition of Course:

Successful completion of the course will provide participants with the following:

  1. Class A Asbestos Removal Training for the Building and Construction Industry in Victoria
  2. Roof Safety / Industrial Rope Access

Admission Requirements

Participants should have an adequate knowledge of the English language and be able to follow instructions and work safely. They will also need to demonstrate competency in Basic Industry Skills of the Building and Construction Industry National Training Framework Structures Stream. Plus they must be confident working at heights

Course Content

Module 1:  Asbestos Removal

  • Introduction to asbestos, types and health hazards.
  • Decontamination of workers
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Emergency Procedures including First Aid
  • Asbestos removal plan and program                            
  • Tools and equipment for asbestos removal
  • Enclosed asbestos work area.                                  
  • Removal of asbestos containing material

Removal of asbestos equipment and site cleaning.

Module 2:  Roof Safety

  • Code of practice.
  • Fall arrest devices.
  • Workplace responsibilities.
  • Equipment selection.
  • Hazard identification (risk assessment).                 
  • Fitting of personal protective equipment.
  • Anchor points
  • System setup                          
  • Engineering computations.        
  • Log book keeping
  • Equipment details.                 
  • Entry details.
  • Storage & Maintenance of Equipment
